Case Study #01

ModernWebSEO

AI-Ready SEO studio built to rank in both traditional search and AI overviews — the site itself is the proof of concept.

The Brief

ModernWebSEO is the service brand in this portfolio — not just a utility tool but an SEO studio that offers audits, strategy, and entity building for businesses that want to rank in both traditional search and AI-generated overviews.

The target client is a business owner or marketing manager who has heard about “AI SEO” but doesn't know what it means in practice. The goal was to position as the clearest, most technically honest voice in that space — not by claiming to have magic formulas, but by showing the work.

The Approach

Entity SEO first. Before writing a single blog post, I established the Wikidata entity (Q138653257), built an 11-platform entity stack, and added structured data to every page. The structured data is the signal; the content is the proof.

The broader strategy documented at /methodology applies here in its purest form — every decision optimizes for both the traditional SERP and the AI overview layer simultaneously.

Tech Stack

  • Frontend: Next.js 15, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS
  • Hosting: Vercel (Edge Network)
  • Analytics: Vercel Analytics + Google Search Console
  • Monetization: $499 AI-Ready SEO Audit (direct booking)
  • Schema: Organization, Person, Service, BreadcrumbList, FAQPage on all pages

The Build

Positioning as a “Venture Builder” — not just an SEO agency but a portfolio operator — was the first creative decision. The $499 AI-Ready SEO Audit is the core conversion offer, deliberately priced to be accessible to small businesses while still qualifying serious prospects. The audit deliverable is a structured report covering entity coverage, schema implementation, GEO readiness, and a 90-day action plan.

Built on Next.js for full control of schema markup and page performance, without the plugin limitations of WordPress-based competitors. Every service page has its own Service schema, FAQ schema, and BreadcrumbList — this isn't bolted on, it's built into the page component architecture.

The entity stack covers: Wikidata (Q138653257), Crunchbase, LinkedIn, GitHub, Product Hunt, G2, Behance, Indiepa.ge, Medium, Dev.to, and Hashnode. Each platform is cross-linked via the sameAs property in the Organization schema. This is the standard I sell in audits — so the site itself demonstrates it.

The site ranks for GEO and AEO terms that most agencies don't even know exist yet. Search for “AI-Ready SEO audit” or “GEO optimization agency” and you'll find ModernWebSEO appearing in AI overviews before it appears in the traditional blue links. That's the outcome the methodology is designed to produce.

Lead generation is the primary mechanism — every page is written to answer a specific question a potential client would ask, then close with a direct booking link. No contact form maze, no discovery call booking tool with 14 steps. One CTA, one action.

What I'd Do Differently

Launched the service brand before having documented case studies. The portfolio — these 16 sites — IS the case study. I should have documented it from day one, with metrics, screenshots, and honest timelines. The documentation you're reading now is arriving later than it should have.

The lesson: for a service brand that sells credibility, the proof needs to be visible before the pitch, not assembled retroactively.
